Police impersonator sought in Trigg County

Police in Trigg County are warning the public about someone pretending to be a police officer who made a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

A white male driving a silver or light colored car used blue emergency lights to pull over a vehicle in the area of Canton Road and Linton Road, according to the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect asked the driver if he knew why he was pulled over and the driver became suspicious when the suspect was not in a recognized uniform. He asked to see the suspect’s badge when he was told to step out of his vehicle and that’s when the suspect walked back to his car and left.

Anyone with information on who may be attempting to impersonate a police officer should call Trigg County Dispatch at 270-522-8888. The sheriff’s department says if you see blue lights and things don’t seem right, dial 911 to confirm it’s the real police.
