The final League of Women Voters debate Monday evening went to the two men running for Christian County Coroner in the November election.
Republican Scott Daniel and Democrat Zach Lamb debated many points, including what the duties of the coroner is, certifications and response time to an incident.
Daniel says his experience as a retired Hopkinsville fire fighter gives him the experience he needs to serve, and he wants to serve and help people in their darkest times.
Lamb has served as a deputy coroner for several years and he says that experience will allow him to help grieving families to the best of his ability.
Both men said that would make changes if elected, with Daniel saying he would reduce budget costs and Lamb saying he would create an independent Coroner’s Office. Daniel says he feels the office shouldn’t be affiliated with any funeral home as it creates a conflict of interest and Lamb says his connection with a funeral home is a non-issue, because he would never compromise his integrity.
Both men did agree on one thing at the debate, and that was that they felt the coroner’s race should be non-partisan.
