The inaugural Officer Phillip Meacham Memorial 5K run/walk is Saturday morning and you don’t have to be preregistered to participate.
Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Head helped organize the event and says all you have to do is show up at the Christian County Justice Center and pay the $25 registration fee and signups start at 7:30.
All money raised will go into a fund for law enforcement agencies across Kentucky, which can apply for grants to buy equipment to protect officers and K9 units.
Deputy head says he believes it’s what Officer Meacham would have wanted.
Officer Meacham was shot and killed by a suspect March 29th on Paulette Court.
Deputy Head says the 5K will be an annual event to raise money for law enforcement and to remember his friend.
