League announces debates schedule

The complete schedule has been released for the upcoming League of Women Voters political forums.

The first night is Monday, October 15th in council chambers at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center. Candidates for Christian County sheriff will debate at 6, followed by candidates for school board in District 5 and candidates for Christian County coroner.

The forums move to the Oak Grove Community Center on October 16th when the 10 candidates for Oak Grove City Council will debate and then the five candidates for mayor of Oak Grove will square off October 18th at 6 p.m. in the community center.

On October 23rd back at the municipal center, the four candidates for mayor of Hopkinsville will debate at 6, followed by a debate between Congressman James Comer and Democrat Paul Walker.

The three state House races for candidates wanting to represent Districts 4, 8 and 9 in Frankfort are on the schedule at 6, 6:45 and 7:30 p.m. on the 25th.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Lynn Pryor will debate Republican Rick Boling at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 29th and then candidates for fiscal court magistrate in districts 3, 8 and 7 will finish the evening.

The final night of debates will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30th at city hall and will feature candidates for Hopkinsville City Council in wards 1, 6, 8 and 11.

The League will host its annual candidate’s luncheon fundraiser on Thursday, October 26th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church fellowship hall.
