Two injured in wreck on US 79 near Guthrie

Excessive speed is suspected as a factor in a wreck Tuesday morning on US 79 in Todd County.

Witnesses told Todd County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick Turner that 20-year old Nicholas Mann of Russellville was southbound and was traveling too fast for wet road conditions.

When he topped the hill just prior to the intersection with North Ewing Street, traffic was backed up and his SUV collided with a northbound tractor-trailer.

Mann and the truck driver, whose name was not immediately available, were taken by EMS to Tennova Health Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Todd County Rescue Squad and Guthrie Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
