The manhunt continues for 53-year old Kirby Wallace, the fugitive wanted for recent murders and home invasions in Stewart and Montgomery counties.
Over 20 agencies are assisting in the search and a five-mile perimeter has been established in the area where Wallace is believed to be on foot.
Chris Clinard lives in the area where Wallace allegedly shot a man to death in a carjacking Monday and says neighbors are arming themselves.
Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray is urging residents across the area to remain vigilant and says law enforcement won’t stand down until Wallace is in custody.
Police say Wallace killed a woman and severely injured a man who walked in on him burglarizing their home near Indian Mound on September 23rd, that he tied an 83-year old woman up during a home invasion a few days later in Montgomery County and that he killed a man to take his pickup Monday.
Wallace later wrecked that truck and fled on foot in the area of Frankie Road and Cumberland City Road.
The reward for anyone providing information leading to Wallace’s arrest is up to $7,500 and police say he is considered armed and dangerous.
School buses on routes near Indian Mound will be followed by Stewart County deputies again Wednesday and parents were advised to keep their children inside until the school bus arrived.
Anyone knowing Wallace’s whereabouts should call 911 or 1-800-TBI-FIND.
