Demolition derby returns to the fairgrounds Saturday

Even though the Western Kentucky State Fair has come and gone this year, the fairgrounds in Hopkinsville will be filled with the sounds of another demolition derby Saturday.

Fair Board Chair Tony Meacham appeared on WHOP Friday and says they’re hoping to start using the fairground more often throughout the year and have more events in the future.

He says tickets are $10 for grandstand seating, with tickets available also for pit-side seating and box seats.

The gates open at 5 p.m. and the event starts at 6 p.m. There will be prize money up for grabs for derby participants and anyone who wants to be in it can register Friday and Saturday with registration taking place from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday.  Children three years old and younger get in free.

The demolition derby is one of the biggest events of the fair and Meacham is excited to bring one back for people to enjoy again. For more information, like the Western Kentucky State Fair on Facebook.
