Unemployment dropped from July to August in all nine Pennyrile counties.
Christian County’s August jobless rate was 5.5 percent, down from 6.6 percent in July. That equated to 1,396 people who were looking for work, but who were unable to find it.
That was down from 6.1 percent one year ago.
Todd County still has the lowest unemployment rate in all of western Kentucky at 3.7 percent, down from 4.5 percent in July and down from an even 4 percent in August of 2017.
Trigg County’s jobless rate was 4.3 percent, down from 5.2 percent in August and from 5.6 percent a year ago.
Muhlenberg County had the region’s highest unemployment rate at 5.7 percent and Livingston was a close second at 5.6 percent.
