Scott Schebler and Phillip Ervin homered as the Cincinnati Reds eased past the Cubs 2-1 in Chicago. Luis Castillo pitched into the seventh inning and notched his 10th win for Cincinnati, who ended a three game losing streak. The Reds open a series tonight at Milwaukee with airtime at 6:10 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
Meanwhile, the Cubs begin a series this evening at the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Elsewhere in the National League: The Atlanta Braves fell behind 5-0 in the third inning and lost 6-4 to the Washington Nationals at SunTrust Park. The Braves host the St. Louis Cardinals this evening.
Adam Wainwright tossed six innings of shutout ball as the St. Louis Cardinals blanked the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 at Busch Stadium. Wainwright allowed only two hits and struck out nine for the victory. The Cardinals are tied with the Dodgers for the second NL Wild Card spot.
