Hopkinsville residents wanting to give motorists a tangible reminder to be safe in their neighborhoods can pick up ‘Drive Like Your Kids Live Here’ signs at the Public Works Department.
A news release from Mayor Carter Hendricks’ office says signs measure 18” x 24”. One free sign per household may be picked up from the Public Works Department, located at 705 North Main Street, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Mayor Hendricks says, “This is a great idea that was shared with us by a local resident. We appreciate that the community is engaged in ways we can work together in new, innovative, and interactive ways to increase safety in our neighborhoods.”
To avoid code violations, residents are reminded to be sure and place signs within their yards and not in a right-of-way. In general, this means signs should be placed behind utility poles and sidewalks.
