The 30th annual Trail of Tears Native American Pow Wow gets underway Saturday at the park on East Ninth Street and will feature all of the sights and sounds locals have come to look forward to for three decades.
Peg Hays says if you can’t attend anything else, be at one of three grand entries that will come at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children six to 12 years old and Hays says it’s the only fundraiser to maintain the park for the entire year.
She encourages locals to not only come to the Pow Wow, but to also visit the park during the year to learn about the dark time in American history that was the forced removal of Native Americans.
There will be plenty of Native American vendors selling food and other items.
Gates open both days at 10 a.m.
