It was 37 years ago and Mike Foster was an assistant Christian County attorney when he spoke to WHOP News after defeating Sam Fletcher to be elected County Attorney.
Friday morning, Foster woke up to mixed emotions on what was his final day in that capacity.
Even so, Foster says he knows he made the right decision when he chose not to seek another term and to step down at the end of August.
Foster has spent much of this week at the Annual Kentucky Prosecutors Conference and became only the second person to ever receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the awards luncheon Thursday—a day he says was made more special by his entire staff coming from Hopkinsville to attend.
He says while his tenure as county attorney is complete, he’s not retiring from being an attorney and he’ll find new ways to serve the community.
Local residents will have an opportunity to thank Foster for his service to Christian County during a reception Friday, September 7th at 3 p.m. in the Christian County Justice Center, with remarks to begin at about 4 o’clock. His successor, John Soyars, will be sworn in Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Justice Center.
