Murray man hurt in US 68-KY 80 wreck

Additional details have been released about a wreck Sunday morning, where a Murray man swerved to avoid striking a deer with his motorcycle.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Department report, 34-year old Edward Pettus of Murray had been westbound on US 68-KY 80 when a deer ran into his path. He swerved to avoid the deer and went off the roadway.  He was ejected from the motorcycle and came to a stop on an embankment of the right-side of the road.

Pettus told deputies he had been wearing a helmet, but it had come off when he struck the ground. He was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his back.
