Two people were arrested on meth charges following a traffic stop Thursday night in Hopkinsville.

Officer Gary Hicks was conducting a foot patrol about 11 p.m. when he saw 34-year old William Comperry of Hopkinsville sprint to a parked car and spin his tires as he left the scene. Officer Hicks yelled for him to stop, but Comperry kept driving, according to an arrest citation, which says Comperry was later located near his residence at Kentucky Avenue and Canton Street.

A K9 alerted on the vehicle and a search allegedly revealed a small baggie of methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana.

Comperry and his passenger, 24-year old Christopher Sumner of Hopkinsville, were both arrested and charged with possession of meth and marijuana. Comperry was additionally charged with fleeing or evading police.

The report says both men denied ownership of the drugs.
