Two served with warrants for recent pursuit

Warrants were served Wednesday against two people involved in a vehicle pursuit earlier this month that began in Hopkins and ended in Christian County.

Twenty-seven year old Matthew Norris of Dawson Springs and 24-year old Brittany Gray of Madisonville had been in the Christian County Jail on local charges since the August 3rd pursuit.

The Hopkins County warrants allege the pursuit began on St. Charles Road about 4:50 p.m. on August 3rd. A deputy sheriff saw Gray driving the car and believed her passenger to be Norris, who was sought on previous warrants.

Deputy Jared Ward attempted a traffic stop, but Gray allegedly kept going, disregarding stop signs and passing vehicles at a high rate of speed in a no passing zone. Police say Norris could be seen ordering Gray to not stop. The pursuit ended on a gravel road in Christian County when Gray struck a tree stump.

Norris then fled on foot, but was soon arrested.

Gray was still in the car and police say the couple’s two small children were in the back seat.

A computer check showed there was an active emergency protection order between Norris and Gray that ordered them to stay away from each other.

Both suspects are charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and violation of an EPO.

Gray is additionally charged with fleeing or evading police, reckless driving and failure to use a signal.
