The Detroit Tigers topped the Cincinnati Reds 7-4 to sweep a two-game set in Detroit. The Reds open a weekend series tonight in Washington against the Nationals with pregame at 5:35 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

The St. Louis Cardinals overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat the Colorado Rockies 6-3 at Busch Stadium. Yadier Molina went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Marcell Ozuna had three hits and drove in a run for St. Louis. The teams wrap up the series this afternoon.

Cole Hamels was sharp in his Chicago Cubs debut as they crushed the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-2. Hamels gave up one unearned run and struck out nine over five innings to get the win. The Cubs welcome the San Diego Padres to Wrigley Field tonight.

Wednesday’s game between the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on Monday, August 13th at SunTrust Park. The Braves begin a weekend series tonight at the New York Mets.
