Report: Man with .240 BAC was driving with child in car

A Hopkinsville man with a blood alcohol content that was three-times the legal limit was arrested early Wednesday morning for allegedly driving impaired with a child in the vehicle.

An arrest citation for 38-year old Ryan Gutelius of Hopkinsville says he was observed by a Christian County sheriff’s deputy striking traffic barrels in the northbound lanes of the construction zone of the Pennyrile Parkway a few minutes after 4 a.m.

Police say there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and he refused field sobriety tests.  He registered a blood alcohol content of .240.

There was also a juvenile in the vehicle, according to the report.

Gutelius was arrested and charged with DUI, second-degree wanton endangerment, careless driving and failure to notify the state of an address change.
