A motorcycle was rear-ended Saturday afternoon on Country Club Lane in Hopkinsville, sending the man riding it to the hospital.
The collision report from Hopkinsville Police says it happened about 12:20 p.m. as 57-year old Gary Shemwell of Hopkinsville was stopped and waiting for traffic to pass so he could turn into a driveway near Wayne Drive.
Approaching from behind was an SUV driven by 44-year old William Grosskopf of Hopkinsville, who said he looked away from the road to speak to a passenger and didn’t have time to stop when he looked forward again.
Shemwell was thrown from his motorcycle to the pavement. He was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for lower back and pelvic pain. The report says he was not wearing a helmet.
