Traffic stop leads to meth arrest

A traffic stop for driving without tags on Skyline Drive Thursday night ended with an arrest on drug charges.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Andy Spann stopped 37-year old Kenneth Leggett of Dawson Springs for not having a license plate on his motorcycle just before 10 p.m. and a computer check showed his driver’s license was suspended for a previous reckless driving charge.

He also did not have insurance and had not transferred the motorcycle into his name, according to the arrest citation.

A search of Leggett’s person during the arrest allegedly revealed a baggie of a substance he admitted to be methamphetamine, in addition to a meth pipe.

Leggett was charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia and charges related to not having tags, a license or insurance.
