Todd County District 5 school board seat vacant

The District 5 Todd County School Board seat is vacant after the recent resignation of Stephen Childers.

Childers stepped down after accepting a teaching position at Todd County Central High School.

Anyone wishing to represent District 5, which includes much of south Todd County, can pick up an application at the Board of Education office on Airport Road in Elkton and submit it to the Kentucky Department of Education by August 10th.

Applicants must be have a high school diploma or GED and be a registered voter living in District 5. They must be at least 24 years old and cannot work for or have immediate family members who work for the school system.

There’s also still time to register to be on the non-partisan ballot for the job and the winner of the November election will serve a four-year term.

It’s the second time in two years the seat has become vacant, as former board member Floyd Henry died in February of 2017.
