Pedestrian arrested on meth charge

An investigation on West 19th Street Wednesday night led to the arrest of a pedestrian on a methamphetamine charge.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Gary Hicks got out to talk with 34-year old William Christopher Beard of Hopkinsville after seeing him walking with traffic on Bethel and then West 19th Street a few minutes after 7 p.m.

An arrest citation says Beard attempted to enter a home when he saw the officer, and reached into his pockets when Officer Hicks called for him.

Beard admitted to having marijuana in his pocket and a search revealed the marijuana and a small bag of meth that he said he forgot was there.

Beard was arrested and charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana and disregarding traffic regulation by a pedestrian.
