HCC Medical Assistant program graduates first class

Hopkinsville Community College’s new Medical Assistant program recently graduated its first class with a 100 percent pass rate.

According to Beth Beverly, the college’s Director of Allied Health and Program Coordinator Health Sciences and Technology, the first group of students were admitted to the program in August of last year.

The 11 month program that includes clinical experiences just ended and the inaugural class of five students then sat for a national certification exam on July 16. All of the students earned the nationally recognized credential as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.

The next group of seven students will begin the program in August. While applications are closed for this fall, the college reports that 12 students can be admitted annually, and applications will be accepted for 2019 beginning in January.
