Todd County residents who desire residential curbside trash pickup now have the rest of the week to sign up with Waste Enterprises.
Tuesday was slated to be the last day a representative of the company would be at the Todd County Courthouse, but Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield says that changed when they agreed to be there through Friday.
Wednesday and Thursday hours will be from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and a representative will be at the courthouse from 1 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Judge Mansfield says if you are unable to make it to the courthouse this week, you can call his office at 270-265-9966, ext. 225 to sign up.
The monthly cost to a residential Waste Enterprises customer will ultimately be contingent upon how many people sign up, but Judge Mansfield expects it to be between 40 and 45 dollars monthly.
He says they’re getting close to 200 people who have already registered with the company.
Republic Services ceased service in Todd County at the end of June, leaving rural residents outside of the cities of Guthrie and Elkton without an option for trash collection. Those former Republic customers have had free access to the convenience centers during the month of July.
