Applications are now available for Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks’ next youth council.
A news release from the city says the mayor encourages high school juniors and seniors from Christian County public, private, and home schools who are interested to apply.
Serving allows students the opportunity to address issues that affect the city and to offer youth-centered solutions and ideas to local government. It also provides a platform for students to enhance leadership skills and empower volunteerism.
Interested students must complete an application packet that includes a personal essay of 300 words or less, two letters of recommendation, a signed parental consent form and a photograph of the applicant.
Applications are available at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center, Christian County High School, Heritage Christian Academy, Hopkinsville High School, Pennyroyal Area Christian Home Educators of Kentucky and at University Heights Academy. They can also be downloaded from the city’s website.
Youth Council member interviews will be conducted between September 5th and 11th. Selection notices will be sent to all applicants by September 13th before the mandatory orientation scheduled for the morning of Saturday, September 22nd.
The deadline to apply is August 31st.
