The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Paducah Chiefs 6-1 at Colonel Field last night. The Hoppers took a 3-0 lead after two innings before the Chiefs scored a run in the fourth to pull to within 3-1. The Hoppers then scored three unearned runs in the eighth thanks to hits from Cord Johnson, a bunt single by Max Remy and a second bunt from John Keane which ended up in a three base error.
MJ Rookard and Cord Johnson each had two hits with Trey Fortner pitching the second complete game of the season in getting the pitching win. Fortner allowed four hits, one unearned run and a team season high 12 strikeouts. The Hoppers are on the road tonight at Henderson.
