A Hopkinsville man has been charged with trafficking in marijuana following an incident at the Western Kentucky State Fair last Friday.
According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Department report, deputies were patrolling at the fair when they observed an argument taking place between 20-year old Douglas King of Hopkinsville and a group of individuals. The report states that when King walked away, he put his hand into a backpack he was carrying and turned back to the group, cursing.
Deputies interceded and when asked if there was anything in the bag, King allegedly said no. The bag was searched for a weapon, but deputies allegedly located a sunglasses case that contained 32 individually wrapped baggies of marijuana. A search of King’s person allegedly revealed $852.
King denied ownership of the drug while being placed under arrest, but when told what he was being charged with, allegedly told deputies that he knew it was less than 8 ounces.
King was charged with trafficking in marijuana.
