Man arrested after Princeton shooting

A 61-year old Princeton man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he allegedly shot another man.

Kentucky State Police investigated the incident that happened about 4:14 p.m. on Mashburn Road in Princeton.

A news release says 62-year old David Gates of Princeton went to a residence to speak with an ex-girlfriend. When he arrived at the home, 61- year old James Mashburn of Princeton came out of the home with a firearm.

Gates started to leave the residence in his vehicle as Mashburn allegedly fired a round striking Gates.

Gates was treated at an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Mashburn was charged with first-degree assault and lodged in the Caldwell County Detention Center.
