Two local high shcool students recently participated in the Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders hosted by Kentucky Farm Bureau.
According to a news release, Hopkinsville High School junior Koby Batts and Christian County High School junior Lynzee Lacy recently returned home from the five day on campus conference at the University of Kentucky. The course is designed to expose high school students to college life while helping them explore the different fields of study for careers in agriculture.
Attendees were able to gain a better understanding of the needs of the agriculture industry, how basic and applied science is utilized in agriculture and learned of the political process used to develop agricultural policy.
Only 44 students from across the state took part in the institute.
