Virginia woman hurt in Guthrie accident

A Virginia woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday evening in Guthrie.

It happened about 6 p.m. and Guthrie Police Sgt. Dean Blumel says investigation determined that Luke Stuard of Olmstead was headed west in a pickup on Port Royal Road and stopped at the intersection with US 79.

He said he looked both ways, but didn’t see a southbound minivan driven by Frances Smith of Chesapeake, Virginia and struck it in the side.

Smith’s van went off the road and came to rest in a ditch near the Guthrie Hi-Road.

Smith was taken by EMS to Tennova Health Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The Guthrie Volunteer Fire Department and Todd County Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
