Three juveniles are in custody following an armed robbery where they allegedly violently assaulted a man in his 70’s in Clarksville Thursday.
According to a news release from the Clarksville Police Department, officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at Super Suds Car Wash on Peachers Mill Road that occurred around 10 a.m. Investigation determined that three juveniles, two of them 14 years old and one 13 years old, had held an employee of the business, who is 70 years old, up with a rifle.
A struggle ensued when the gun was pointed and the 70-year old fell to the ground—the juveniles then allegedly kicked him and struck him with the butt of the rifle multiple times. The report describes the assault as ‘vicious’. While he was down and at gunpoint, one the juveniles tipped over a coin operated machine and stole an unknown amount of money. They also reportedly took his keys and stole his vehicle, fleeing the scene.
They were located and taken into custody later in the day without incident. The juveniles were charged with aggravate robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and there are additional charges anticipated.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was flown to Skyline Medical Center for treatment of injuries and is listed in stable condition.
