Todd Fiscal Court approves final reading of budget

Todd Fiscal Court approved final reading of a budget for the upcoming fiscal year Friday morning.

Treasurer Tammy Robertson says the $6.8 million spending plan was already in the works before the General Assembly gave relief to city and county governments on their pension contribution, so they could have surplus funds in that line item.

The new budget has cost of living adjustments for county employees, but isn’t much different from the current budget.

She says all county departments are closing out the year in good shape financially.

In other business, Todd County Emergency Management Director Daniel Smith reminds motorists in the south part of the county that the Clarksville Rotary 62 and 100 mile Memorial Weekend bike ride events will be Saturday. It brings hundreds of bike riders into the county starting in the Tiny Town Area and traveling through Trenton, Elkton, and Guthrie throughout the morning. Drivers can expect to see riders starting around 7:30 am and lasting until early afternoon.

Several magistrates also expressed frustration with Scotty’s Contracting, which has the contract to pave county roads. They haven’t finished with last year’s projects yet and magistrates hope to have a representative at a future fiscal court meeting to answer questions.
