Christian County wins another 8th district softball title

Fourth ranked Christian County won its 14th consecutive 8th district championship by defeating Hopkinsville 15-0 in four innings. It was a scoreless game until Christian County batted around in the third scoring six runs on just one hit, which was a bases clearing double by Taylor Shemwell, who had two hits.

In the fourth, the Lady Colonels got five hits on nine runs which included two run home runs from Emmy Blane and Reni Shemwell. Regan Hancock was the winning pitcher, with Marley Hancock taking the loss for Hopkinsville. The Lady Tigers lone hit came from Morgan Hodge. Christian County heads to next week’s Regional Tournament at Lyon County with a 32-3-1 record while Hopkinsville is 7-24.

Following the game, the All District team was announced. Christian County was represented by Emmy Blane, Regan Hancock, Halle Rhea Hendricks, Hope Jones, Macy Lancaster, Lexi O’Daniel and Tyler Shemwell. University Heights players on the team were Reagan Pollard and Rachael Snyder, Hopkinsville was represented by Shelby Harbour and Fort Campbell’s Liz Ceja and Emma Kaack made the team.
