MLB Roundup-Reds & Braves lose, Cards edge Cubs

A four-run opening frame helped the Miami Marlins to an 8-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the rubber match of a three-game series at Great American Ball Park. The Reds and the NY Mets begin a series in Cincinnati this evening with air time at 5:40 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

Elsewhere in the National League: Dexter Fowler’s two-run homer in the bottom of the 14th inning gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs in a wild finish at Busch Stadium:

The Cardinals open a two game interleague series with the Minnesota Twins tonight in St. Louis, while the Cubs return home to welcome the Miami Marlins.

The San Francisco Giants surrendered two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but held on to escape the Atlanta Braves with a 4-3 win at SunTrust Park. The Braves are off today.
