Lexi Sabatino Poker run to benefit baby with rare heart condition

The 16th Annual Alexis ‘Lexi’ Sabatino Poker Run hosted in July by the local Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, Eagles Riders Group and Eagles Auxillary will raise money for a local baby battling a rare heart condition.

The ride will be Saturday, July 28 and it begins at the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds Convention Center at 11 a.m. and concludes by 6 p.m. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and it’s $20 per person, which also includes one poker hand and the cost of a meal after the ride.

Money raised will benefit eight-month old Axl James Wilson, who is the son of James and Kayla Wilson. He is diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a rare congenital heart defect that only happens to 1 in 100 live births.

He will need three stages of surgery to reconstruct his heart where the right side will do all of the work. Two of the surgeries have been performed and a third will happen when he is about three years old. The surgeries cannot repair his heart, but will prolong life and improve his quality of life, according to information provided, which says a heart transplant could also be possible in the future.

In addition to the Eagles poker run, they will be raffling off a television, two recliners and a patio set. Tickets are being sold for $10 each.
