Four people are throwing their hat in the ring to be Christian County Coroner and they all met their opponents in debates Tuesday evening at a League of Women Voters forum.
Scott Daniel and Jane McKnight are running as Republicans and will face each other in the May primary. Daniel started out the debate by saying he’s ready to make a “real working coroner’s office” if elected and he feels there hasn’t been one in Christian County.
McKnight has ran for Coroner before, and she says if elected, she will bring the experience and compassion to the position that it deserves.
Melton Brooks is running as a Democrat and says he would work with pride, honesty and dignity and make sure that grieving families are always the priority.
Zach Lamb will challenge Brooks in the May democratic primary, and he says he’s already started making changes to the office, as a deputy coroner, and his experience makes him the best candidate.
Veteran incumbent coroner Dorris Lamb will not seek re-election, leaving the position vacant for the first time in 32 years.
