The annual unemployment rate dropped from 2016 to 2017 in Christian and Todd counties, but went up slightly in Trigg.
Christian County’s 2017 jobless rate was 6.1 percent, down from 6.2 in 2016. Todd County again had western Kentucky’s lowest unemployment rate at 4.1 percent, down from 4.3 percent the previous year.
Trigg County averaged an unemployment rate of 5.8 percent, up a tenth of a point over 2016.
Livingston County had the highest jobless rate last year in the Pennyrile Region at 7.5 percent and Muhlenberg County was second at 6.7.
Woodford County had Kentucky’s lowest unemployment rate at 3.3 percent and Magoffin County the highest at 15.7 percent.
The state average was 4.9 percent and the national number was 4.4 percent.
