A Hopkinsville man accused of walking away from his car after crashing through a fence on North Drive Sunday morning was arrested on multiple charges.

The collision report from Hopkinsville Police says 42-year old Traval Evans had been northbound about 6:40 a.m. when he left the right side of the road, went into a ditch and collided with a chain link fence owned by Marsh Industrial Warehousing.

Evans was later located near the BB&T on North Drive and told police he had been driving drunk. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol content of .191—over twice the legal limit.

A search of Evans’ person at the jail allegedly revealed a baggie of cocaine in his pocket.

Evans is charged with his second DUI, possession of cocaine, promoting contraband, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without insurance.
