Updated: Man accused of shooting at Madisonville officer arrested

Madisonville Police say the man who fired gunshots at an officer Thursday night during a pursuit has been arrested.

The Madisonville Police Department says 29-year old Jessie Blake Gobin was located and arrested early Friday morning.

As previously reported, at about 11:30 p.m., Officer Ronald Latham attempted to stop 29-year old Jessie Blake Gobin, who he knew to be driving with a suspended license. Gobin continued northbound on Island Ford Road and fired multiple shots at Officer Latham near the intersection with Whittington Drive. Officer Latham was not injured.

Gobin lost control of his car near Nebo Road and Quinten Drive, ran off the road and overturned multiple times. He was ejected during the crash and fled the scene on foot into a wooded area.

Police found a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun at the car and shell casings where the shooting occurred on Island Ford Road.

After being cleared from the hospital following the wreck, Gobin was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder of a police officer and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
