J.P. Crawford singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and Scott Kingery hit a grand slam in the eighth as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds 6-1 at Citizens Bank Park.

Jesse Winker plated Cincinnati’s lone run with a fifth-inning single. Jared Hughes took the loss. The Reds have lost three in-a-row. The series finale is this evening with pregame at 5:35 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

Matt Carpenter connected for a two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals outlasted the Milwaukee Brewers 5-3 at Busch Stadium. The series concludes this afternoon.

One day after getting snowed out, the Chicago Cubs lost their delayed home opener 8-5 to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field. The teams play again this evening.

The Atlanta Braves managed just three hits in eight innings against Stephen Strasburg in a 4-1 loss to the Washington Nationals. Dansby Swanson broke up the shutout with an RBI double in the ninth for Atlanta. The Braves have lost three of four and wrap up the series this afternoon in DC.

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and Arizona manager Torey Lovullo are each suspended one game after their heated exchange on Sunday. While arguing a third strike, Lovullo implied Molina got favorable calls behind the plate. Molina took offense and had to be restrained. He’s appealing his suspension.
