A traffic stop for a seat belt violation Tuesday evening led to marijuana trafficking charges against a Hopkinsville man.
City police stopped 24-year old Shaquan Harris of Hopkinsville for the seat belt violation about 5:40 p.m. at South Jessup and West Seventh Street and an arrest citation says there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from his car.
A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a glass jar containing several grams of marijuana and a digital scale in the floorboard.
Harris was cited into court for trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to wear a seat belt.
