Filming began Monday morning at the historic Christian County Courthouse on “The Silent Natural,” a movie about William Hoy—the first deaf Major League Baseball player.
Hoy played outfield for several teams, including the Cincinnati Reds. Branscombe Richmond is the producer of The Silent Natural and says Hoy embraced his challenges and thrived.
Richmond has appeared in dozens of movies since the 1970’s and says over half of the talent in The Silent Natural will be from western Kentucky. He says Hopkinsville was an ideal location to film and the community has been very accommodating.
David Risotto is the movie’s director and says Kentucky’s tax incentive for filmmakers and several ideal locations to meet their needs in a small area drew them here.
Those conducting business at the Christian County Courthouse through Wednesday are reminded to utilize the rear entrance, as filming will be underway on the South Main Street side.
Richmond expects the film to release some time in 2019.
