The Christian County School Board will soon begin seeking a new board member for the first district after Geoff Bailey stepped down from the position in February.
Bailey sat on the board for approximately a year, according to Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill after running unopposed for the position. She says he pursued a job opportunity and relocated to Madisonville with his family after handing in his resignation at the end of February, effective immediately.
Gemmill says they recently received the information about the process to fill the vacancy, though it looks like they will advertise the position to find candidates.
She says the Kentucky Commissioner of Education will likely make the final decision on who is appointed.
Bailey’s leaving puts the board currently at four members, and as long as three of them appear for meetings, a quorum will be reached and meetings can continue. **
