Officer Paul Ray retiring Thursday

After 20 years of service to his city, Hopkinsville Police Public Information Officer Paul Ray will retire Thursday.

Officer Ray says he enters his final days on the job the same way he began his career—with mixed emotions.

He says it’s remained an honor to protect and serve the citizens of Hopkinsville for the last two decades.

Leading Crime Stoppers as coordinator comes with the public information officer position and Officer Ray says he found his passion in that role 15 years ago.

Lt. Kyle Spurlin will assume those duties at the end of the week and says his main objective is to continue Officer Ray’s good work.

After 20 years on the job, Officer Ray says becoming a civilian again will certainly be different.

Officer Ray has maintained a positive and transparent relationship between the Hopkinsville Police Department and WHOP News during his 15 years as public information officer and everyone at the radio station wishes him the best in retirement.
