University Heights won its first Boys 8th district championship since 2011 in defeating Christian County 83-76. Christian County led by two at the half and then by nine 60-51 at the end of the third quarter before the Blazers outscored the Colonels 32-16 in the fourth period.
KyKy Tandy led all scorers with 43 points for UHA. Malik Lovan added 13, TaQuon Hollowell had 12 and KJ Crump scored 11 as the Blazers improved to 20-7. Christian County was led by Detorrion Ware’s 33 points with Cory Trice and Fred Tandy each adding 14 as the Colonels fell to 20-7. Both teams will play in next week’s 2nd region tournament that begins Wednesday at Henderson County High School.
