Several inches of rain is expected to fall this week and a flood watch is in effect for western Kentucky and surrounding areas through 6 a.m. Sunday.
Forecasters say multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall will lead to some minor localized flooding during that time period.
The primary areas of concern will be along small streams and creeks that feed into already swollen rivers across the region, but low lying and poor drainage areas could also see flooding.
Total rainfall for the week could approach five to seven inches.
Local residents should stay up to date on latest forecasts and monitor the WHOP family of stations, websites and social media outlets for any possible watches or warnings.
Motorists who encounter standing water are reminded to turn around, don’t drown.
