Hopkinsville City Council heard the monthly financial report at Tuesday evening’s meeting and approved the lease for a new street sweeper on first reading.
Chief Financial Officer Robert Martin says the general fund has an available cash balance of $9.6 million, which is nearly $500,000 more than the previous year.
Approved on first reading, a new street sweeper machine will be leased through Planter’s Bank, which City Administrative Officer Nate Pagan says will save around $7,500 by not going through the manufacturer.
In other action, council approved the streets and sidewalks ordinance on second reading, which sets the guidelines and standards for road work and repair for private companies.
Newly hired Hopkinsville Fire Firefighter Ryan Stull was sworn in and recently promoted Patrol Sergeant Chris Bond was recognized at the meeting.
