Nominations sought for inaugural Mayor’s Community Awards

The City of Hopkinsville is launching the inaugural Mayor’s Community Awards.

According to a news release, the initiative is designed to celebrate and recognize the individuals and agencies that make the community a better place. There will be five categories recognizing outstanding contributions, including small business, non-profit, volunteers and city employee.

The community is invited to submit their nominations starting July 1st through July 26th and nominations can be made on the City of Hopkinsville website or pick up a form in person at the Hopkinsville Municipal Building.

Each nomination should include a brief essay, no more than 250 words, that detail why the nominee deserves the award. Once nominations close, a selection committee will review submissions and then present a short list of finalists to the mayor, who will make the final decision.

Then, an awards ceremony will take place in August to honor the winners, with further details to be announced at a later date.
