Multiple fire departments responded to a large blaze at the Hopkinsville landfill on Mount Zoar Latham Road Friday morning.
The fire was about 30 by 30 feet when the first trucks arrived around 8:30 a.m., according to Hopkinsville Fire Lt. Payton Rogers, who says mutual aid was requested from the West Side and Northwest Volunteer Fire Departments.
By about 9:30, the fire was approximately 250 by 250 feet, but there were no reports of any damage to buildings or infrastructure.
Crews were utilizing bull dozers to move dirt to help prevent the fire from spreading further.
There were no reports of any injuries in the fire.
