Good turnout for Trot for the Troops

If you were in the area of the Eagle Way Bypass and Cox Mill Road Saturday morning, you may noticed the road was closed to one lane—that was for the annual YMCA Trot for the Troops.

This was the tenth year of the event that includes a one mile fun run, along with a 5k and 10k races in honor of Fort Campbell and other armed forces. Organizer Pamela Hamilton says the day is just a small way they show their support for soldiers and their families.

She says 111 people participated in the races and the proceeds raised go to benefit the families of service men and women at Fort Campbell.

The participants came from all age groups and there were other activities throughout the morning as well. The event began as part of Hopkinsville-Christian County Salutes Fort Campbell week and has grown ever since.
