The man arrested Friday morning for allegedly breaking into the Copper Still on Dawson Springs Road is also accused of a burglary at University Heights Academy.

As previously reported, 41-year old Chadwick Edwards of Hopkinsville was arrested after a witness and video surveillance caught him inside the Copper Still. He had reportedly used a rock to break the drive-thru window to crawl inside and cut himself in the process.

Later in the morning Hopkinsville Police Officer Jamie Gapp responded to the report of a burglary that had happened overnight at UHA, where electronics were stolen.

Glass was broken to get inside the school and blood was located inside. Shoeprints were also found that matched the ones from the Copper Still.

A blood trail was found leaving UHA toward Edwards’ home and another trail was found leading to the front steps of his home from the direction of the school. His family members acknowledged seeing him come home bloody and carrying electronics.

A search warrant was executed and the stolen items were found covered in blood. Edwards reportedly admitted to committing the crime and was charged an additional count of third-degree burglary and with possession of burglary tools.

Police also charged 44-year old Rodney Edwards, Jr. with third-degree burglary and the arrest citation says he also entered UHA without permission.

Chadwick Edwards was out on bond for a previous burglary charge when he was arrested for the Copper Still incident.
